  • While shopping for a pet door for our bedroom, my wife and I cannot believe how many of these pet door companies get it SOOOO wrong.

For some reason, virtually all of them believe that their doors are to always be used as internal/external doors, so a pet has access to the outside. WRONG! What about a simple, QUIET, soft-flap door that allows our cats to enter into our bedroom without waking us up at night.

We have THIN doors in our house that was built in the late 1930's. They're framed doors with thin 1/4" hard plywood which is where the door must be mounted. Yet all these pet door companies make their doors for 1-1/4" thick doors or more. WHY?

To elaborate, our thin doors, which are perfectly fine doors as doors go, act like a sound amplifier when a pet door is installed. This makes sleeping difficult. That's why we need a QUIET door.

We currently have an Idea plastic-flap door installed in our basement door, which is right next to out bedroom. At night, this seemingly quiet day-time door, is louder than the kids who drive by with rap playing on their stereos.

How could the pet door companies understand so little about the needs of their customers?

  • It seems like the Havahart Wireless dog fence is better. It covers a lot more area…over 100 yards in all directions. And the controller is crazy…it tells you how far away your dog is.
